Using found objects, clay and paint you’ll create a whole cast of bizarre holiday characters including:

• Krampus: The terrifying Christmas demon ready to snatch the naughty.

• Frau Perchta: A wintery witch who really really doesn’t like bad children.

• Frostbite the Snowman: A snowman with a grim demeanor.

• Yule Lad: One of 13 mischievous elf or trolls who cause mayhem of all sorts.

• The Taken Tot: A trapped brat within a tiny, eerie cage. • Strange Deer: It might have a red nose but it ain’t no Rudolf.

• Yule Cat: The prowling feline of legend, haunting those who haven’t received new clothes.

• Gingerdead Man: A gingerbread man gone wrong, bringing a shiver to your spine.

• Bobblehead Belsnickel: The gruff, menacing gift-bringer in bobblehead form.

• Perchten Coal Delivery Truck: A vehicle delivering coal to all the naughty kids.

• Caga Tió: A strange wooden log that “poops” out treats and gifts when children sing and gently tap it on Christmas.

• Wonderland Stage : You’ll also create a wintertime stage where your devious dudes can plot and plan their devious intentions. Sounds like a winter party like no other.

Supply List: Here’s what you need to get started. Feel free to experiment. Assemblage is all about exploration and problem solving so be willing to play.

1. Base and Backdrop for Your Wonderland Stage: You’ll need a sturdy base for your Krampus-themed assemblage. This could be something simple like a couple of square pieces of wood. Size is up to you depending on how big you want to make it. My base is made from an upside down wooden tray appoximatly 12”x12”x2” and the background is a thin piece of wood roughly 12”x14”x1/8”

2. Toys or Figurines: Depending on the characters you’re creating (e.g., Krampus, Frau Perchta, Frostbite the Snowman), you’ll need appropriate figurines or parts. Look for action figures, dolls, or holiday-themed decorations that can be transformed. Thrift stores are a great source for these.

3. Aves Apoxie Clay (1lb or more): This will be essential for sculpting detailed elements like faces, hands, and other character features that aren’t readily available.

4. Variety of Found Objects: Gather an assortment of interesting found objects to enhance your assemblage. Items like old Christmas ornaments, broken jewelry, clock parts, and anything else that fits your theme. Think in terms of what could add texture, character, or a narrative element to your piece.

5. Paint Brushes: You’ll need a variety of brushes, including small detail brushes for intricate work and some cheap bristle brushes (1/2 inch to 1 inch) for broader strokes and texture creation.

6. Wire: Have a couple of different gauges of wire on hand for constructing frameworks, attaching pieces, or adding detailed elements like branches or vines. Rebar tie wire is really handy and cheap (find this in masonry dept of a hardware store.

7. Basic Tools: Be sure to have essential tools like pliers, scissors, wire cutters, and an X-Acto knife or utility knife.

12. Scraps pieces of wood:

    1. Balsa wood: really handy for unobtrusive bases and can be easily cut

    2. Thin dowels: Can be turned into candy cane posts or decorative borders

    3. Old frame bits: can be used to adorn the stage.

13. Old Brushes: Cheap ones, maybe used that can be used for hair and fur on our beasts.

14. Cheesecloth, fabric, and burlap: Useful for adding texture or creating a draped, aged effect in your scenes.

15. Optional Tools:

    1. Heat Gun: For speeding up drying times or creating certain effects with paint or glue.

    2. Dremel with Cut-Off Wheel and Engraving Bit: For precise cutting and engraving details. Sanding drum attachment.

    3. Drill: For creating holes or setting up structures.
